WHY DO MY WRISTS HURT IN [INSERT ASANA HERE]?
GENERAL ENQUIRIES.
-
Fun! Send me a message with more details so I can see if we’re a good fit.
-
👩💻🧘♀️ You can book a 30 minute video call with me if you’d like to chat through something specific. This is a one-to-one interactive session, not a private yoga class.
I can share feedback on your Vinyasa or certain asanas, suggest helpful exercises to compliment your practice, or chat through alignment.
I cannot offer any medical advice though.
-
It’s great you’re curious about my 200 hour YTT. Fingers crossed you can join us. 🤞
-
Happily! You should find everything you need to know about my yoga student training here. Let me know if you have any questions. ☺️
-
Stay tuned - they’re coming soon. 🙌
I’ve got big plans to create the first wrist-friendly yoga studio on the www, where you’ll be able to practice with me, and some amazing guest teachers.
I’d like to offer four categories of classes:
Wrist-free (no hands needed)
Wrist-friendly (no 90 degrees)
Wrist-focused (strength and mobility)
Wrist-orative (breathe, relax and meditate)
Want to be the first to know when things are announced? Join the watch list and I’ll reward you for being super keen. 👀

I don’t offer “yoga holidays” but I love sharing the practice in-person.
I often collaborate with studios, venues, or yoga festivals to teach workshops or short trainings.
If you want to yoga together IRL then stay tuned - I’ll let you know about any upcoming events via my newsletter and the official “watch list”. 🙆♀️🙏
-
Right now the only one online is my wrist-oration project, but I’ll be launching some more soon.
I always prioritise quality over quantity, but believe me when I say I’m working away behind the scenes to bring you fresh content.
People on my newsletter and the official watch-list will always be the first to know about new offers, so you should register your interest there. 😉
WRIST RELATED QUESTIONS.
-
That’s a hard one to answer because a big part of it is personal preference.
I love sticky mats because I can get a much better grip and keep the engagement of my hands. 🖐️
My go-to mat is the ICONIC Eco Mat from Beyond Yoga, but unfortunately they only deliver within Switzerland.
If you can, I’d recommend finding one with similar materials though.
If you order from Beyond Yoga then use the code “Jess Rabone” at the checkout for a small discount.

I get asked this question a lot and I wish I could help, but this is something you need to decide for yourself.
I don’t regret getting my operation - the surgery went well and I had a great physio for my recovery. Now my mobility is good and my wrist feels strong and stable. 💪
However, I also have a (sleeping) cyst on the other side. I turned down the surgery and instead I changed my practice and managed to “fix” the cyst myself.
Sometimes surgery is the best choice, but as a general rule I’d recommend it’s a last resort.
If you don’t address the root cause of the cyst then surgery will only be a temporary fix because cysts can return.
Addressing the root cause is what I teach in my wrist-oration course, so I’d recommend doing that before going under the knife. 😎
-
It’s impossible to say for sure, but there’s a 99% chance it’s because of outdated yoga cues and alignment rules.
The good news? We can fix that together in my wrist-oration course.
You’ll get a personalised approach to alignment based on your individual anatomy, plus a pain-free breakdown of the common weight-bearing asanas.
You’ll be able to do Down Dog without the discomfort, and Side Plank without the shooting pains. 🥳
You can join the wrist-oration project here. ✌️

Honestly, a regular asana practice isn’t designed to build wrist strength. It’s something you have to consciously work on and mindfully integrate into the postures.
I can help with this though. There’s lots of inspiration on my blog, inside my wrist-oration project, and I also share tips in my newsletter and on Instagram.
Also, just to get geeky. 🤓 There aren’t any muscles in your wrists, so when we talk about making your wrists “stronger” you actually need to work on your forearm muscles, hand engagement, and grip strength.
-
It depends how you’re doing it. 😜
If you’re always placing your hands shoulder distance apart, and stacking your shoulders over your wrists, then yeah, it’s probably not the best. 🫣
If you haven’t already, check out my free mini masterclass on carrying angles - it’s a game changer for wrist pain!

There’s 12 hours of content to enjoy. It’s all broken down into short lessons so you can binge watch it in a weekend, or spread it out over several months.
-
Yes, it’s worth 12 hours of Yoga Alliance continuing education credits (YACEP). Certificates can be provided on completion. 📜
-
Yes, you’ll still learn a lot. Knowledge is power, and wrist-oration can help you understand the likely cause of your injury, and help you heal. It’s important that you practice with patience and compassion though - the last thing you want is to push through pain. It’s possible that some exercises will need to wait until your recovery is complete.
I always recommend seeking medical advice if your wrist pain is a problem.
-
Of course! You’ll find my student testimonials here. I often share kind words on Instagram too.
